N.C. Wyeth
Recently I have rediscovered my love for the Wyeths, a family of artists who have produced work both enduring and magical. I have been doing research for a commission of a painting of a Cherokee woman, and naturally my mind went to N.C. Wyeth’s series of Indian paintings. From there I was distracted by Jamie Wyeth’s mysterious, lively work, seemingly a mixture between the color and vibrancy of N.C Wyeth’s work and the somber mystery of Andrew Wyeth. I like the balance. Check out the work below:

I’ll keep you posted on sketches and more inspiration as I work on this commission. Long live the Wyeths.

Esther-Main Characters. Mixed Media, copyright Jessica Libor 2009
This was a delightful project. A call to illustrate the Biblical account of Esther, using only the main characters. Esther is one of my favorite heroines; beautiful, courageous, wise. Although I must admit my favorite character to illustrate was the lovely Vashti, the king’s banished wife. I just love her golden dress. I’m on the lookout for one just like it. Now, to find an occasion worthy of such a dress…
