“To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.”
-Jane Austen
Finished! The Jane Austen painting “Southampton” is at last complete…almost. I do still have to varnish it, which believe it or not makes a huge difference in the presentation. However, the painting part is pretty much finished. Hope you enjoy taking a peek…the pictures are not the best, but proffessional photos are coming.

The piece is called “Southampton”, the country estate that Jane Austen lived at after the death of her father, and where she gathered much inspiration for some of her best works.
For those unfamiliar with Jane Austen, she is the author of some of the best-known classics in literature, such as Emma, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and Pride and Prejudice.

Beautiful, Jessica! Did you change the brand of paint you use after your studies in Firenze? What kind of varnish do you put on your paintings?
Jessica, just found your blog. Beautiful !
Writing from Brazil.
Eduardo! Is this the Eduardo that comes to mind, who lived in Florence this summer and was a street vendor?
If so, it’s really great to hear from you! how have you been since this summer? Thank you for checking out my work.
Thanks! Although I did get some paint in Italy, I still use the same kinds that I have always used now that most of it is running out. Italy just really taught me how to choose the right colors and how to apply it more realistically. I use many different kinds–Windsor Newton mostly, but also M. Graham, and one gorgeous brand from italy called LeFranc.
